Cambelt - Timing Belt change
The cambelt/timing belt essentially coordinates the rotations of the top of the engine (camshaft) and bottom of the engine (crankshaft) so the engine’s valves and pistons move in sync, opening and closing valves at just the right time for smooth operation.
Some cars and trucks use timing chains or gears, which are more durable.
Unfortunately, in most cases, there are no obvious signs that the timing belt is about to fail it will just break, potentially causing an expensive amount of damage to your engine as well as the inconvenience of breaking down. That’s why your vehicle’s manufacturer will have a recommended replacement interval.
The expected lifespan of your timing belt is specific to your car and engine configuration, usually between 60,000 and 120,000 miles or 4-10 years, as the timing belt is made of rubber and deteriorate with age as well as use.
